SG Orchid Charm

A hybrid orchid between the Burmese Vanda teres and the Malayan Vanda Hookeriana, the Vanda (Miss Joaquim) was bred by horticulturist Agnes Joaquim and chosen as Singapore national flower in 1981. Vanda Miss Joaquim was also selected as the national flower due to its hardy and resilient qualities, and its unique trait of blooming throughout the year. These are characteristics which reflect Singapore’s continuous pursue for progress and excellence in all aspects of life, and symbolize Singapore’s never ending hope and renewal of the future.
